DPV™ BECOMES A MUST IN 2007… But why wait?

The U.S. Postal Service® has notified vendors and users of CASS Certified™ address correction software that mailings will receive CASS-related discounts only if the delivery point validation (DPV) process confirms the address.

There are 145 million confirmed delivery points in the USA today. The DPV product is one of the tools that identifies whether a ZIP + 4® coded address is currently represented in the USPS® delivery point file as valid.

A CASS Certified ZIP + 4 address-matching product, such as MAILERS+4, matches and standardizes addresses within a street range of valid addresses.

Incorporating DPV along with the ZIP + 4 system takes it one step further and validates the coded address as a confirmed delivery point. The biggest offender of UAA mail? Missing or invalid suite  (or apt.) numbers for an otherwise valid, deliverable street address.

The USPS has said that if the primary street number of an address can’t be confirmed with the new CASS DPV requirement, then no
ZIP + 4 code will be assigned to the record and the mailpiece won’t qualify for postal discounts.

MAILERS+4 appends ZIP + 4 codes to all addresses verified, meeting current CASS requirements, with or without the DPV   add-on.

The USPS is advising software vendors, resellers, and mailers to  be prepared for the new CASS DPV mandate as early as summer 2007. But why wait? You can start reaping the benefits of DPV right now!
